Oh good morning beautiful. Today’s mug is Mr. Strong. I have all of these, well I don’t have all of them, but I love these books and everybody, all four of them, got one of those mugs and I used to have those stories too and I think it was one of those traditions that I brought forward.
They have this neat little way of telling a great story to children and to adults. But that particular mug there is Alexander’s and very appropriate. That kid is one strong kid, and one very determined child to go his own path. And when they say that kids come to us, children come to us to teach us lessons, my God that child has taught me lessons. But it wasn’t until I really opened up and and had to get out of my way, and just look at life a little bit differently to allow Alex to be who he needed to be.
So whoever said parenting is a piece of cake was not a parent. It’s hard and right now, as I’ve said before, I’ve got teenagers in the house, and life in general is tough right now. I listened to a video yesterday and, it was, he was a politician in the States, Governor Cuomo, and he was going on and on about how fantastic this experience of him being home with his, I think he said, a 22 and twins at 24or 25 something like that. The conversations he’s had, and he said for years you know it’s just been like, “hey how you doing? What are you doing? What can I get for you?” You know, five-minute conversations. He says, now I sit down with my kids and I talk for hours and I hear about their intricacies and their challenges and struggles ’cause, they’re different then what we were going through, and to be able to sit and listen has to be one of our biggest gifts right now.
Now not every day is that day, I get it. I honestly believe this is a roller coaster ride but when were in those lows, you sit in them, you let it be OK, you do that binge watching and stay your jammies or I just you know be. And then, those other days when the sun comes out and you’re feeling good and want to take it on, embrace those conversations and those moments. And just as I love to say take those lemons and turn them into lemonade. And just be you.
