Good morning! Welcome to Mobility Monday! I’m feeling like it should be “Motivational Monday”. I pulled out this mug today and I thought it was kind of perfect – “It’s not the journey, it’s who you’re traveling with”. Good of me to remember!
But welcome. So today and this whole idea was simply to bring some togetherness together with all of us going through this wonkiness. The idea is about rejuvenation, about health. There are no rules, there are no rights, there’s no wrongs. My idea of my “post-coffee” time zone is so I too don’t have any major pressures with timing, and also that goes for the community component. I’d really like, if you like the little workout, or if you like the little video, you comment.
The idea is to create a bit of interaction about moving us forward with good health and self-love, beyond self-care. Just taking care of yourself. And some days you say, no, no, no, that’s not going to happen, no problem. Other days you may feel motivated. There’s always different muddles to everything that we do, so if we’re even talking about alcohol consumption, which we’ll talk about, on say, Thirsty Thursday or today, where we’re going to do some mobility.
So yeah, if you haven’t done mobility exercises before, don’t worry. The idea is that mobility is about moving those joints, about moving those muscles, not holding anything for too long, and again, it’s about mobility, particularly those of us who are over 40, it’s a concept of we need to keep moving but maybe we don’t need to be in static stretches all the time. Maybe we need to be able to focus on lifting our arms up, and twist and move. I find twisting is getting a little more uncomfortable as time goes on. Plus this bit of sitting, I find it’s kind of getting into my butt and hips.
So here we go. Here’s a start to a concept of mobility for you. Do as much as you can and do as many repetitions as it feels comfortable for you. My thought is that you hang on to this and you just keep doing it. Whenever you get down to the carpet in the middle of your living room, hope no kids come down and do your thing.
Every day that I do a little session, I’ll have music. Today is Whitney Houston, 1987. Where were you? I was turning 17, so I was in grade 11, and I loved her hair. Probably because I have huge hair too.
Here you go….

Mobility is about movement and stretching. So have a great day. My thought for you as you go, I love the saying “Turn lemons into lemonade”. We all know it and we love it well. Here’s my little add in. You can choose to add sugar or you can leave it sour. You get to choose how you want to enjoy that lemonade.
So, have a great day!
